“I’ve had some problems getting sound to work on a C-Media-based soundcard – the 8xxx (can’t remember which!) under Red Hat 9. Wave files play ok, but mp3, ogg etc play extremely distorted, and apparently at half speed! After some searching, it seems as if there’s a problem with the OSS drivers at the moment.
